Police explain huge emergency service presence at Warwick Castle today

Police have urged people ‘don’t be alarmed’ if they spot a large 999 presence at Warwick Castle. Emergency services, including Warwickshire Police, will be at the historic venue today (January 10), but the force has said there is no cause for concern.

This is because it is being used as a live training exercise. This is part of what has been described as the castle’s ‘normal major incident planning and prevention.’

“This training will be carried out in collaboration with the local Emergency Services, so please do not be alarmed by fire engines, ambulances, or other modern-day knights in shining armour entering and exiting castle grounds throughout the day,” Warwick Castle posted on its page on Facebook.

“This event is a crucial component of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety of our staff and guests.” Warwick Castle is currently closed to the public until January 20.

“We have taken steps to ensure the training will have no effect on the local town and surrounding areas,” the post concludes.
