Coventry’s big wheel is finally here and is open to the public from November 18 onwards. The 35-metre high attraction has been installed in Broadgate and is ready to offer visitors a unique birds-eye view of the city.
Tickets are on sale and cost £8 for adults and £6 for children with family and gondola ticket options also available. There’s a 15 per cent discount on prices if you book online in advance.
Plans for the big wheel were announced back in September and it’s hoped the attraction will encourage more people into the city centre as well as act as a beautiful illuminated landmark. The idea received a mixed reception with some readers saying the council should concentrate on sorting out the city centre’s empty shops first. But others described it as an ‘awesome’ idea.
The wheel is open until Sunday, January 7 (except Christmas Day) from 11am to 10pm daily.
A spokesman said: “Situated in Broadgate alongside a Christmas market, you’ll be able to enjoy a festive family experience this winter. See breathtaking views from the top of the wheel including the city’s three spires which will be floodlit from dusk.”
