Beautiful scenery, exceptional service, and pure nostalgia are the three things we desire when travelling on a train. However you’re in luck as the the posh steam train, Steam Dream is a must-do for all railway fanatics, and this year will be travelling through Warwickshire.

The renowned Settle & Carlisle Railway line travels through the peaks and valleys of Cumbria with its wonderful backdrop of stunning scenery and architecture, including the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct. On Saturday, March 23, the train will stop at five stations, including Rugby at 8:10am.

The journey will begin at London Euston, then Milton Keynes, Rugby, Lichfield Trent Valley, and Crewe before stopping at Carlisle. There will be time to explore the city at your leisure before welcoming the steam locomotive for the journey along the Settle & Carlisle Railway.

The full-day journey will commence from 6:55am and arrive at Carlisle at 11:45am. Passengers will experience the ‘ambience of luxury hotels’ in the carriages which include period details, brass fixtures, polished wood panelling and expensive-looking seating with stand-out liveries inspired by the classic railway colours.

There will also be attentive stewards on board who will ensure you only need to sit back, relax and take in the enticing scenery sweeping past as you indulge in an unforgettable dining experience. From polished silverware, and glassware, to exquisite meals, fine china and fresh flowers, you will be treated ‘like royalty’ on this ‘highly memorable journey’.

Once passengers get to Carlisle, there is lots to see and do from the beautiful castle founded in 1092 and a nearby citadel built by Henry VII and the stunning cathedral with its infamous 14th-century stained glass window. There’s also the award-winning Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery to explore the city’s past and the Grade I listed Jacobean building that has an array of interactive displays and exhibits.
