New Dragons’ Den backed theatre school opened in Coventry!

A new theatre school opened in Coventry last Saturday, offering high quality performing arts education to children and young people starting at age four up to the age of 18. Razzamataz Coventry is part of a multi-award-winning franchise network, which appeared on BBC’s Dragons’ Den in 2007 and is still remembered as one of the Top Five investments from the Den (Daily Express article).

To celebrate its launch, the school opened its doors on Saturday 22nd April to floods of local children, teenagers and parents to experience the sessions in dance, acting and singing for themselves with a FREE taster day. The teams of Industry professional performers and educators taught the very latest trends in commercial performance and West End and Broadway musical theatre styles. This incorporated street dance, pop singing, screen acting and performing styles from iconic musicals.

“The response from local families was amazing, with one parent saying Thank you so much for an amazing taster session. You and your team were so professional, so friendly and welcoming and so very talented. My son loved it and we are very excited for him to start his journey with you” says Principal Kimisha. “I’m delighted to be bringing the exciting Razzamataz brand to Coventtry and sharing with the community what we are able to offer, which includes a 50% discount for siblings.”

Razzamataz has many years of experience with the first school opening in 2000. There is also many opportunities for students that come from being part of a well-established brand including performing experiences on West End iconic stages, enrichment trips overseas with this year students going to New York, performing in London’s 02 and being part of the exciting Disneyland Paris parade and performing in the theatre.

Razzamataz has close connections with professional performers, ensuring students get the opportunity to participate in specialist workshops with current actors, dancers and singers and learn more about this exciting industry. There are also opportunities for scholarships with respected publications such as The Stage newspaper and to also apply for funding through Razzamataz’s own charity, Future Fund.

Locally, Principal Kimisha plans to immerse herself in the community, getting involved in events as well as getting behind local charities. “Razzamataz is all about creating confident young people through participation in performing arts,” adds Kimisha. “To do this, we will give our students as many performing opportunities as possible, giving them the chance to develop essential life skills.”

Participation in performing arts has been proved to have countless benefits. Children gain a wealth of attributes by engaging in Razzamataz performing arts lessons. This is anything from increased confidence, collaboration skills, positive effects on a child’s academic learning and increased empathy.
