International Buskers’ Day is a celebration of street performers showcasing some of the best live music and entertainment.
Supported by Coventry City of Culture Trust “Summer of Surprises” and Coventry City Council, the city centre will come alive with an assortment of bands on Sunday 25 July between 12noon and 4.30pm.
There will be a programme of 30 minute performances throughout the day from acts such as Instruments of Joy, Bombay Baja, Flat Cap 3, Phase One and Valentino Trio.
Performances will be taking place on Market Way/Smithford Way/Broadgate and some will also promenade around Broadgate during the day.
Councillor Abdul Salam Khan, Coventry City Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Events said: “Music brings all together and adds a vibrancy to life. These performances across the city centre will brighten everyone’s day and bring a smile to all in the city centre on the 25 July.”
Chenine Bhathena, Creative Director at Coventry City of Culture Trust said: “It is fantastic to be working with Coventry City Council to celebrate our local music sector for International Busking Day as part of our UK City of Culture Summer of Surprises programme.
“We have such an incredible amount of musical talent in Coventry, some of which will be available for people to see in and around the city centre at the weekend. So, if you are out and on Sunday, make sure to keep your eyes and ears open for some wonderful performances.”
As well as the acts already announced we are looking for local street performers to join us on the day. Get in touch at [email protected].
