Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle

The Petite Messe Solennelle is one of Rossini’s most significant sacred choral works. Rather than the duration of the piece, which is around 80 minutes, the adjective ‘petite’ refers to the number of instruments that accompany the choir and soloists. Use of piano and accordion is of particular originality and a delight for the listener.
A superb line up of soloists and instrumentalists will perform with the choir: Alexandra Wynne (Soprano), Charlotte Woodhead (Alto), Edward Harrisson (Tenor), Edward Robinson (Bass), Ben de Souza (Accordion), Colin Druce (Piano). The performance will be conducted by the choir’s music director, David Wynne.
The Coventry Philharmonic Choir will be performing this work at St. Mary’s Church, Warwick at 7.30pm Saturday 21 October 2023.
About the Coventry Philharmonic Choir: we are a non-audition choir of around 80 members based in Coventry. We welcome anyone with an interest in singing choral music to try us out. Rehearsals are open to the public and potential new members aged 18 or over. To encourage the next generation of choristers, membership is free for students.  Rehearsals take place on Thursday evenings (7.15pm – 9:30pm) during school term time at Quinton Park Baptist Church, Cheylesmore, CV3 5PZ.
