Drum roll please!
Sandra Smith – Chair
Launch of the new name for the network previously known as the B.A.M.E. network is here! As the new chair of the network, I present to you….The E.M.B.R.A.C.E Network (Ethnic Minority broadening Racial Awareness and Cultural Exchange) Come and join us if you are already a member of the B.A.M.E. network and rekindle your membership or join us anew!
I am passionate about the change that the EMBRACE network can bring to the lives of staff within the organisation. I want to be a part of a group of people who have needs that need to be met either via policy changes or organisational cultural changes.
I have been a member of staff for over 20 years, and it is time for me to lead the network to educate, challenge and change thinking and policy that does not fit within the remit of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Asraf Kassam – Vice Chair
I have been in the organisation for over 30 years and have a great insight into the workings of the council, I recently participated in the EMBRACE events, the first one in many a year, I was surprised at how far the network had grown in supporting its members, equally I was encouraged with corporate leadership engagement right the way up to chief executive level.
The benefits of being involved in the steering group for me is to work with the corporate leadership and to drive the EMBRACE agenda to reality, for me it is about having an honest conversation and setting up the vision to benefit the EMBRACE network, this I believe can only be achieved in collaboration.
I am passionate about working together and building relationships to have those difficult and challenging conversations to highlight areas of concern, I bring with me a wealth of knowledge and experience from a range of topics including people management, input into policies and leadership.
Come and Join Us – Tuesday 13 July 2021 (11am – 12noon)
We encourage you to come and join us at our introductory virtual event, the aim is to provide you with a greater insight into the EMBRACE network, to share our vision for the year ahead and more importantly how you can get involved with the network.
