The city’s Bands in the Park programme returns this summer with many of Coventry’s fabulous parks playing host to live music.

Bands in the Park 2021

These events are part of the City of Culture “Summer of Surprises” programme of events.

The first takes place on Sunday 25 July in Nauls Mill Park with the very popular Phoenix Rock ‘n’ Roll band.

This much-loved series of FREE mini concerts is back with the usual wide variety of musical styles and bands and a few new, longer events offering additional musical entertainment.

If you have never been to a Bands in the Park event, it is a relaxing, family friendly musical experience in many of the city’s beautiful parks on a Sunday afternoon, taking place from the end of July until the end of September. Times vary but are usually from 2pm and 3.30pm. The aim is to entertain, bring a smile and perhaps enjoy a dance in great surroundings and best of all it is FREE!

Councillor Abdul Salam Khan, Coventry Cty Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Parks said, “After last year’s events sadly had to be cancelled due to the pandemic, it’s lovely to be able to welcome back this much-loved series of mini concerts for people to get out into the fresh air and listen to some great music. I hope everyone enjoys this great series of free events and continue to enjoy all our lovely parks across the city.”

The events will be run using government guidelines at the time of the events. Anyone showing COVID symptoms, had a positive test or a Test and Trace notification to isolate should not attend.

After some selected Bands in the Park events there will be an evening pop up cinema (ticketed event, details to follow) to finish the day off in style!

The final event taking place at Coombe Abbey Park is a BBC Contains Strong Language 2021 event – Parks, Poems and Brass Bands with Olga Dermot-Bond and the City of Coventry Brass Band.
