There are a range of Christmas markets within the Midlands including in Coventry, Birmingham, Telford and Wolverhampton.
1) Coventry Christmas Market
Located in Broadgate within the heart of the city, the Coventry Christmas market is open seven days a week until January 8. The market will offer festive treats such as hot chocolate, mulled wine, burgers and fire pits to roast marshmallows. Local traders and craft businesses will also be there to offer the best from the city’s businesses for people visiting the city for their Christmas shopping.
Alongside the twinkling lights and Christmas cabins, Broadgate has also included a Festive ice rink to add to the Winter Wonderland experience for families. Prices start from £6.95 for Go CV Plus card holders and £10 for those without a membership.
2) Leamington Christmas Market
The Leamington Christmas market is open every Sunday until December 18 and has more than 60 stalls offering festive gifts, food and drinks and live entertainment and activities for the children. The market is located within the beautiful surroundings of the historic Regency architecture – the stall will have the best decorations, goodies and unusual gifts you can find for the perfect presents. The market is open from 10am till 5pm every Sunday.
3) Birmingham German Christmas Market
The Birmingham German Christmas market is the largest of its kind outside of Austria and Germany which attracts around 5 million visitors every year. The market includes dozens of stallholders selling everything from beers, bratwurst sausages, churros, waffles, pretzels, jewellery and toys. The market also has rides and attractions such as the big wheel and the city flyer which both have incredible views of Birmingham.
Despite being smaller and open for fewer hours this year, the market still attracts a wide audience to the city. It is open 10am till 9pm everyday until 23rd December.
4) Nottingham Christmas Market
Enjoy a Winter Wonderland spectacular at Nottingham Christmas Market which has over 60 market stalls, rides and take-away refreshment stalls for people of all ages. Celebrate the Christmas period with mates, family or work colleagues in the Sur La Piste or Altitude ski chalet bars which is a great cosy spot for visitors to get together for a drink or two. There’s also an ice bar if you’re lucky to brave the minus temperatures
Rides include a Toboggan slide, the sky skate ice path, the observation wheel and the ice rink held in the Market Square. Entry to the Winter Wonderland is free, however, some activities require a ticket
The market is open until from 11am until 5:30pm on weekdays and 10am until 5:30pm on weekends until Saturday, December 31.
5) Wolverhampton Christmas Market
Wolverhampton is running a week-long Christmas market on Friday, December 17 until Thursday, December 23. Located in the heart of the city centre on Dudley street, the stalls will include a mix of local and global products on sale from artisan, Christmas gifts, novelties, stocking fillers, kidswear, jewellery, handmade items and many more. Visitors can also enjoy cocktails, cider, craft spirits and ales, as well as German sausages and Black Country pork crackling.
There will also be a Victorian market, with stallholders and street entertainers dressed in Victorian clothing which will have carol singers and choirs to bring the festive spirit. Hot food and drinks will be on offer such as mulled wine and hot chocolate to keep you warm whilst walking around.
The market will be open 9am till 6pm on December 17 and 18, 10am till 5pm on December 19 and 9am till 5pm on December 20-23.
6) Telford Christmas Market
Telford’s Christmas market is back to bring festive cheers to the town. The market has traditional wooden cabins decorated with bright lights offering tasty food and drinks with a glass or two of mulled wine or any drink of choice for visitors to get into the festive spirit.
Some stalls include: The Original Bratwurst Company, Jukes Bar, gourmet burgers and loaded fries, doughnuts, pancakes and many more. On the weekends, there is also a pop-up craft market from local independent businesses for family and friends to try out, as well as a walk-in LED bauble where you can take photos in.
The market will be open 10am till 7pm Sunday to Wednesday and 10am till 9pm Thursday to Saturday. It will be open 10am to 7pm Sunday to Wednesday, and 10am to 9pm Thursday to Saturday until Christmas Eve.
