It is also sending funds to groups and Churches that have kitchen facilities to pack food boxes or provide shelter and hot food in Izmail in Southern Ukraine.

Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader of Coventry City Council, said: “We have all seen the terrible news images coming from Ukraine and how people, many of them women and young children, are suffering.

“They need our help, and I know the people of Coventry will respond generously as they always do. I am delighted that the appeal is being led by a Coventry charity and I urge everyone to give what they can and show the people of Ukraine that they are in our thoughts.”
