There is concern about a new scam using texts and emails, which has been reported in the media.
A person receives a text saying they need to book a vaccination appointment via a link, which takes them to a fake NHS form asking for their bank details to prove their identity.
There is concern that those most in need of vaccine may be most vulnerable to such manipulation. The Council is asking resident’s to pass this warning on and to reassure people that bank information would never be requested.
A Coventry City Council spokesperson said “General advice from trading standards, as always, is for residents to be on their guard, and question why the NHS would be asking for bank details?
“If in doubt, contact your GP Surgery.”
